Women undergoing chemotherapy have a high probability of experiencing temporary and sometimes permanent hair loss. Radiation destroys the ability of all cells within its reach--cancerous or normal--to grow and reproduce. Radiation treatments to the head and neck area can sometimes cause hair loss. The earlier you plan for hair loss, the more emotionally prepared you will be. And since mind and body work together in helping us through a traumatic illness, treating the problem of hair loss takes on an important role in recovery.
